Painting exists as an exploration outside of the perceived rigidness and confines of materiality in design or craft I generally find myself working in - Acknowledging the importance of play without boundary has become instrumental in my creative practice. Leaning into the slippage of the medium, painting offers up a freedom of expression not found elsewhere. The process itself dependent on an improvisational aleatory around explorative mark making. Through a deeply instinctive editing process of what ( isn’t ) there’s a reductive layering - albeit forced cohabitation of objects and loose reflections of daily life.
